Calories

What is a calorie?

In our daily life we hear and see calories in grocery products, but exactly what does it mean? A calorie is a unit of measuring energy. The food we eat everyday is not measured by weight or size, but how much energy it contains. For example, when you see something contains 250 calories which describes how much energy your body could get by eating or drinking it. Calorie is a simply technical word for energy.

Calories are not bad for your body since your body needs them for energy. Consuming very little calories over time will not allow your body to function properly and can negatively impact your health. Eating too much calories and not burning enough by any physical activity can lead to gain weight over time. Understanding how many calories your body needs each day will help you choose which food are best for you.
