What is Meditation


A meditation is described as a heightened state of focus, concentrated into one point, sharply, consciously. Being free of thoughts might occur with practice, but never forcefully, it could be viewed more as a side effect of focusing your attention. At a higher level, meditation might or might not become a spiritual practice, as meditation can be practiced in religious, spiritual, or strictly secular ways.

Meditation is an exercise to stress relief, reduce anxiety and to increase focus on daily routine. Mental strength matters a lot compared to physical strength. Mental strength will give quality to think deeper and detailed in daily activities. Learning to meditate is not a day task it takes time at least 2-3 months to understand the basic level of meditation , but consistency makes you perform better.

The benefits from the meditation are reduce stress, controls anxiety, promotes emotional & mental health, lengthens attention span, reduce age related memory loss, help fight addictions, Improves sleep and decreases blood pressure. Its all depend on the method and technique, some of these benefits may have different uses than others. These minor differences would usually come from the nature of method in question, such as sitting meditation may not be beneficial for joint health, whereas moving meditation usually promotes healthy joints and freedom of movement. Of course, no one method is superior to another, each would allow the practitioner to be healthier and feel better in body, mind and spirit alike. There are some common points though, positive effects of the practice, which all meditators, regardless of the way they choose to follow, may experience.


Various studies say that, that brain activity significantly changes during meditation. Some researchers found that in experienced meditators the grey matter of the brain observably thickens, effectively resulting in greater brain power.

We have to think as meditation is exercise to mind. For example, when you train your muscles, the muscles will thicken and become stronger. The same thing happens when you meditate, meditating is just like training your mental capabilities and how to control your mind.

There are many health benefits from meditation. Its lower stress levels promote a healthier immune system, lessening the chance of contracting both viral diseases and cancer. All the above effects benefit you in your everyday life, in your relationships, work, study and all your activities. The effects of living a healthier, happier life extend far beyond the individual, affecting the lives of others, your family, friends and acquaintances, transforming your communities and have the power of forming the ways of society. The greatest impact you can make right now is simply being happy. That is one way, you may change the world around you.

Practicing meditation for 15–20 minutes a day should be sufficient to achieve the goal. Do you have 15 minutes for yourself, for your health and well-being? If your answer is no, consider: Practicing meditation will not only benefit you, but everyone around you, your family, children, partner, friends, colleagues, even your neighbors. You will be generally happier, less stressed and more contempt. It is easy to see, what your environment might gain from such changes in your own lifestyle, as you will have more time to focus on what is important in your life, worrying and stressing yourself less.


How to do Meditation

Basic way of meditation which a beginner can practice is focusing on breathing. Choose a comfortable place to sit. It is important choose a place where you can make yourself comfortable and practice it peacefully. Start with normal breathing and try to focus on breathing every 10-20 seconds the mind will go toward different thoughts. Your focus will be coming back toward focusing on breathing force your mind to keep focusing on breathing. Day by day your focus power will increase, and duration of changing thoughts will reduce significantly.

Any method you use to learn meditation, you cannot go wrong. The important thing is you are practicing it every day. learning and reading about it might be a start, but once you are doing it, you will know, you are on the right track.

If you practice, you will have the full benefits of your practice, regardless of your level or expertise. You will gain the same much from your meditation on the first day of your practice than you will after two years, only your perception and understanding of your experience will have changed.
